Sean Penn OMG! 50 out of 100
Sean Penn, an incredible actor, is so well suited to this film. He would have made Mr Milk proud! This film is soaked in amazing chameleonic actors who turned themselves into very interesting characters for this film. The storyline is depicted very well. Costumes and sets are so cool. In parts it will make you feel embarrassed that the world was so backward and sadly still is today not only regarding Gay Rights but many other Rights topics too. The story will leave you with a lot of food for thought & sadness at the loss of Harvey Milk. Highly recommend this film.

Sean Penn can do no wrong in my book. I admit that it may have been a little drawn out, but I did walk away from the film with a strong sense of Harvey Milk. Whether it's accurate or not, I believe it did a good job of humanising a man whose life became highly politicised. I guess it really makes you wonder how ordinary people can have the courage to live such remarkable lives.

There's so much to like about this film. It's not funny, it's not smart and it's not exciting. It's a great story about a remarkable man. He is played so well by Sean Penn. Worth watching.

Just didn't get the need to show evey twist and turn in the man's life, although Penn is magnificent in the movie, it's drawn out which makes it hard to stay with, a lot of yawning and tea making during movie :-)

Reality is hard to make interesting 25 out of 100
One of the problems of real life is how to make a good film of it. Often documentaries work better. The same is true of Milk. While Penn is excellent and the subject matter is important the overall approach of this film makes it very mixed and in parts quite dull and poorly executed. This is especially true when real life footage is mixed in. As a film it is very hit and miss. The use of Penn recording the events is very good. Overall it works best when we see Milk as activist.

This movie is ok but a little disappointing. Sean Penn is truely excellent at portraying a gay man - the attention to detail in all his mannerisms is so convincing! Pity the rest of the movie didn't measure up.

This movie is very interesting from a historical perpective (gay rights in USA) but is comes across almost like a documentary and drags on jusdt that bit too long. worth watching

excellent , well worth the watch 50 out of 100
Based on the true story of Harvey Milk an American politician who was the 1st openly gay politican to be elected to public office in the USA. The film gives an account of his life and most of it is based on his campaign , Milk is brillantly played by Sean Penn. However if you dont know anything about Milk , dont google him as it will spoil the ending of film!!!

Drawn out but historically true .. great Sean Penn 35 out of 100
Sean Penn was great in "All the Kinds's Men" where he played the role of Willie Stark, a US politician who grew up from the grassroots poor in Louisiana. In this movie he was great in playing the role of Harvey Milk, a US politican who grew up from the grassroots gay community in San Francisco. Interesting parallels, Penn was superb in both movies. good film.though if your squeemish about men kissing im sorry but this ain't the film for you!Sean Penn turns himself inside out for this role pulling out a great performance..you never see films concerning homosexuals today or there well hidden.you know more films like this would be great and would educate many ignorant people and hopefully change a few view's on things.

A history lesson in the emerging gay rights movement. Shows the long and difficult struggle to get some public representation, even in a liberal city as San Francisco. Sean Penn is brilliant and can own just about any character, as it seems.

This is a great tragic story and the fact it is based on real-life makes it all the more interesting. Great actors and supporting actors. The story is moving and it's very shocking how gay people were treated only 30 years ago. A must-see for all!

Certainly a very engaging performance from Sean Penn who is almost unrecognisable in terms of his mannerisms etc. as Harvey Milk. That is the main reason I can recommend this film, however overall it's just not gripping and didn't live up to the hype around oscar time.
