Synopsis:Walt Kowalski, an iron-willed veteran living in a changing world, who is forced by his immigrant neighbors to confront his own long-held prejudices. The people he once called his neighbors have all moved or passed away, replaced by Hmong immigrants, from Southeast Asia, he despises. Resentful of virtually everything and everyone he sees, Walt is just waiting out the rest of his life, until the night his teenage neighbor Thao tries to steal his prized '72 Gran Torino, under pressure from Hmong gang-bangers. But Walt stands in the way of both the heist and the gang, making him the reluctant hero of the neighborhood-especially to Thao's mother and older sister, Sue, who insist that Thao work for Walt as a way to make amends. Though he initially wants nothing to do with these people, Walt eventually gives in and puts the boy to work, setting into motion an unlikely friendship that will change both their lives.

Excellent Film 45 out of 100
A bit slow to start but after about 20 mins the film gets going. Not a huge fan of Eastwood due to his voice, but he was brilliant in this film. He's the cranky old neighbour that everyone loves to hate! Sometimes predicable but overall a very good film when all there seems to be out lately are films with loads of effects and no proper story line. A must see film.

A cut above the usual fare 35 out of 100
An enjoyable outing for Clint as an ageing Dirty Harry type. Occasionally a tiny bit worthy but some good comedic moments amidst the drama and overall a good portrayal of race relations in the US.

Amazing film 50 out of 100
Clint can do no wrong! this is another amazing eastwood film. i did'nt think he'd top million dollar baby but i really loved this film. great storyline, great acting. has some great comedy moments thanks to clint's dry humour but there's a great sadness to the story also. i've recommended this film to so many people, it's just great.

Mr Gravel builds up slow 35 out of 100
Pity there was no subtitle for this one because I actually struggled to hear what Clint was saying at varous moments! We're asked to believe that his character has virtually no relationship with his entire family in his whole life, but develops one pretty much over night with a troublesome nextdoor neighbour? That said, this builds very evenly to a tense finish

Nice Balance 40 out of 100
This is a good movie looking as it does at typical hick Americal bigotry and its root cause but easily overturned by a few home truths. I lked especially how one American's (Clint Eastwood's) character seemed to speak for so many of Americans today, confused as they are about what they stand for particularly when faced with the world outside kick-ass American solutions in dealing with other nations and how they should maybe think again. A really good film within an all-tto-often hackneyed genre.

Good movie all round but the ending was a bit rushed. It was like the director spent too much time telling the story and had to rush the ending to get it into a specific time. Eastwood is wonderful though, that growlly, hate everybody snarl really does draw you into the character.

A nice departure from the special effects laden blockbusters of late. This harks back to previous years of cinema when all you needed to entertain was a good story and actors who could get it across to the audience. Quite a slow story, so is ideal for a lazy Sunday afternoons viewing.

I loooooooooove Clint Eastwood and the fact that he directed, produced and starred in this film I just knew I was going to love it. Although it is very sad, there is a lot of humour throughout and the story is very well written. Clint does not let you down and I'm off to buy the soundtrack. Get it, you won't be disappointed.

Have to say I am *totally* moved...and so was my nine year old son who cried at the end...very moving, beautiful and moving... It's a real good 'ol down-to-earth *watchable* movie...the kind that doesn't lose you in ridiculous layer-upon-layer of espionage...nor does it contain gratuitous amounts of mind numbing special effects... It hearkens back to the years when special effects, espionage, action and violence weren't needed to hold, grip and move an audience - just damn fine human interest

No where near as good as I was expecting - no one does grumpy like Clint, but he hams it up so much it's like a bad Jack Palance in City Slickers impression. His character 'evolution' is more of an unbidden complete 180 - his sudden dropping of a lifetimes bigotry to become the saviour of the Hmong teens next door is trite and completely unbelievable. If it wasn't Clint, it would have been panned.

Nowhere near as good as I was expecting. Thought everything was laid on a bit heavy with no subtlety at all. A bit like the over-rated Million Dollar Baby (which won an oscar, so what do I know?). That said it's certainly watchable and Clint gives a good performance.

What a guy 45 out of 100
Dirty Harry at 80. No one can do grumpy quite like Clint. His neighborhood has changed beyond recognition, he has no relationship with his family and really only wants some peace, but it all turns out very differently. Moving depiction of how he slowly adjusts his values and finds new meaning.

Gran Clint does it again.. 45 out of 100
This was a fab film and I was totally hooked. Clint is great as the Korean War vet who is a racist bigot. You slowly warm to him as he begins to mellow after befriending his neighbours, a Hmong girl and her brother. The lengths he goes to to protect them brings a tear to the eye. This is one to watch!

This is an amazing film about how one man overcomes his intolerance about the Mongs. Beautiful and moving that teaches us that we should never fear the unkown we should learn about them. Clint Eastwood at his best both acting and directing.
