Awefull. Expected better, reasonable performances by everyone, but just boring. Do yourself a favour and rent out Mad Max. This was a poor and pointless immitation.

Wasn't sure from the trailer if I'd like this but I'm glad I took the chance. Denzel is at his brooding best and Gary Oldman does a great lunatic baddie in a post holocost world. There's a good bit of action and a nice twist at the end of the story. Worth a look.

This one really disappointed me. I liked denzel as the one man army charater in 'Man on Fire' and hoped this would match that at least. Denzel was good but the script was terrible (must have been written by some God nut) and Gary Oldman must have serious money problems to lower himself to this. If you want to be preached at for 90mins, get this now!

Because Denzel Washington was in this film I watched it for 30 mins. that is 30 mins more than I should have. I don't understand why truly great actors like Washington accept this kind of role in a trash film.

Honest review 35 out of 100
At times the movie was a bit slow, but it told a good story of a man on a quest with the treasure of belief and knowledge in the last book of its kind. There are a couple of unexpected turns, and you're left gritting your teeth at some of the plot decisions, but overall it is worth a look. Nothing like the film "The Road", which is possibly the most depressing movie I have ever seen.

Very slow to get going and moves at a slow pace throughout the film, story line is good idea and a good twist at the end. Wouldnt recommend to a friend!

Really good movie. loads of action, fast moving without all the normal mindless violence - plenty of it but it enhanced the story rather than detracterd from it.

Pleasantly Surprised 30 out of 100
Apocalyptic type story that drags out a bit at the start, picks up the pace and decent action and storyline to boot. Not too taxing on the brain and a twist at the end that makes you kick yourself you didnt catch onto throughout. Worth a look.

Another post-apocalypse America film! Interesting twist in that it centres on the rescue of literature & culture. But all in all a disappointing with the usual quota of brutal violence although it descends into the ridiculous at times. If you want to see a post-apocalypse road movie pick The Road & give Eli a miss ... that's my advice!

Modern day mad max (with a crucifix) 30 out of 100
Its a modern day mad max with a religious angle. The cast are pretty good. The fight scenes are a bit over the top with Denzel managing to avoid any attack in a very Steven Seagal-esque manner. And then there is the twist at the end which for some may be a bit too much suspension of disbelief considering his afore mentioned survival skills. But its a good enough action film. Rent 'Man on Fire' for a better Denzel film though.

The Book of Eli is hopefully better than the film. 15 out of 100
I expected much more from this film and was looking forward to it which made my disappointment all the more. The world is bleak as befitting a post apoloyptic world and well constructed, but once we become introduced to the obsessed Gary Oldman the film takes down hill run rapidly and resorts to cheesy futuristic version of Sergio Leone without the style. This hangs on poor premise and leads up to big surprise which turns out to be obvious long before it's revealed and is not dramatic or clever

I was in two minds about getting this film. I was hoping for the best but was prepared to be disappointed. Luckily, I enjoyed this film a lot more than I expected to. It's not a million miles from (but not quite as good as) Children of Men. Post Apocolyptic future where one man is given a task that could have serious implications for the future of mankind kind of stuff. In this one Denzel is excellent as is Mira Kunis.
